On December 17, 2025, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund, the State Development Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the National Investment Fund. The document aims to develop cooperation and jointly participate in the financing of a small hydropower plant construction project in the Kyrgyz Republic.
As part of the signed Memorandum, the parties plan to consider the possibility of financing a small hydropower plant construction project in the Chui region. The project aims to meet the growing demand for electricity in the country, create new jobs, and increase tax and non-tax revenues to the state budget.
During the meeting, the participants discussed strengthening institutional cooperation and developing financing mechanisms for investment projects of strategic importance to the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic. Particular attention was paid to coordinating efforts to attract investment, develop project and long-term financing, and support joint initiatives in the real sector of the economy.
The parties agreed to cooperate in exchanging information and expertise in the implementation of investment projects, as well as to prioritize support for key economic sectors, including industry, infrastructure, energy, agro-industrial complex, and small and medium businesses.
The signing of the Memorandum creates a solid foundation for the practical implementation of joint projects, increasing investment activity, and developing sustainable financial instruments aimed at ensuring long-term economic growth in the Kyrgyz Republic.
